One version of a .0001 Lux Bullet Camera. (Click image for details and specifications.)
Uses for a super low lux camera with a 5-100mm zoom lens. Potential mounting on a telescope eyepiece with a 12mm lens on the camera and mounted to a 26mm 1.25" telescope eyepiece.
Note: This particular camera produces only black and white imagery at .0001 Lux rating.
Below is a 5-100mm lens which is very similar to the one we use. Ours is manual focus and manual iris control. Click the image for details and specifications. Also you will need a power supply for the camera, image on right.
Astronomy Clubs
Can be hooked up to a TV set or computer monitor to show groups of people what’s being viewed live. Useful for beginning amateur astronomers who are learning where objects are oriented in the night sky. Removes some of the concern for preserving night vision.
More affordable than many CCD imagers that fit on telescope eyepieces. Will be testing this possibility soon with a 12mm lens.
Can pick up meteors and meteor showers, which can be recorded on video for later viewing and sharing.
Viewing satellites and / or ufo’s.
Good possibility to adapt camera with a 12mm lens to a small telescope (60mm refractor) for enhanced telescope use and recording of objects using the lens to lens afocal method. Could also be adapted for larger telescopes.
Not recommended for planet or moon observing.
Saving video of the night sky from the SLL camera.
The quickest method is to hook the camera up to a TV and then record the TV screen with a camcorder. However, this is the lowest quality video as the TV and the camcorder ads to the noise and artifacts that you do not want. This will allow you to download the video to your computer pretty quickly though.
Second method is to hook up the camera to a TV, and also hook up a VHS/VCR and record video to tape for later viewing. You can also transfer the video to a computer using a video grabber USB / AV cable and software.
The third method is to record direct to your computer using a video grabber USB / AV cable and software.
